The short answer
Not directly. Sky Glass runs Sky's own software, Entertainment OS, and can only install apps from the selection Sky offers. IPTV player apps such as IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate aren't part of that selection, and Sky Glass doesn't allow apps to be installed from anywhere else.
That's by design. Sky Glass is built around Sky's own services, which already reach it over broadband, so it doesn't include the open app store you'd find on an Android TV or Fire TV device. The same applies to the second-generation Sky Glass that Sky launched in 2025.
The practical solution: add a streaming stick
Sky Glass has three HDMI inputs, so you can plug in a streaming device and use it just like any other TV:
- Choose a device that supports the IPTV player you want, such as a Fire TV Stick, a Google TV device or an Apple TV.
- Plug it into an HDMI port on the Sky Glass TV and connect its power supply.
- Switch to that HDMI input from the Sky Glass menu.
- Install a player and sign in, following our set-up guide.
Sky Glass is a 4K TV, so a 4K-capable stick lets you get the most from 4K Premium. If you're buying a Fire TV Stick for this, choose a Fire OS model, because Amazon's newest Vega OS sticks can't install most IPTV players.
Getting the stick set up well
- Pick the right port: one of the HDMI inputs supports eARC for a soundbar. If your soundbar uses it, plug the stick into one of the others; sound from the stick still reaches the soundbar through the TV.
- Power it properly: use the stick's own mains plug rather than a USB port on the TV, so it gets enough power and doesn't restart.
- Give it its own good connection: the stick connects to your broadband separately from Sky Glass. If the TV is far from the router, an Ethernet adapter for the stick is worth more than any setting.
- Let one remote do more: Sky Glass supports HDMI-CEC. On a Fire TV Stick, turn on Settings > Display & Sounds > HDMI CEC Device Control, and pressing Home on the stick's remote will wake the TV and switch to the right input.
What about AirPlay?
The second-generation Sky Glass added Apple AirPlay, so some iPhone and iPad IPTV players can send a channel to the TV. It's handy now and then, but your phone has to stay on and nearby, switching channels means picking up the phone, and it's less dependable than a stick for an evening of live TV.
What about Sky Stream?
Sky Stream, the puck that brings Sky's service to other TVs, uses the same Entertainment OS software and has the same limitation. If your TV has spare HDMI ports, the same streaming-stick solution applies.
Be wary of “Sky Glass IPTV” downloads
Websites and videos sometimes advertise APK files, downloader codes or tricks for getting IPTV apps onto Sky Glass. These don't work on Sky Glass, and installing files from such sources on any device risks malware. Stick to apps from official app stores.
