IPTV Smarters Pro is a free IPTV player made by WHMCS Smarters. It's popular because it runs on a wide range of devices, signs in with an Xtream Codes login in seconds, and keeps live TV, films, series and catch-up in clear sections. Like every player, it contains no channels of its own: it plays the service you subscribe to.
Which devices it runs on
| Device | App name | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Android phones, tablets and TV boxes | IPTV Smarters Pro | Your device's app store or the developer's website |
| Amazon Fire TV | IPTV Smarters Pro | The Appstore where listed; on Fire OS models, the developer's website (see our Fire TV guide) |
| iPhone, iPad and Apple TV | Smarters Player Lite | The App Store |
| Windows and Mac computers | IPTV Smarters Pro | The developer's website (see our Windows and Mac guides) |
App store listings change from time to time, so the name or availability on your device may differ. Install it from your device's official app store or from the developer's own website, never from a third-party download site. If it isn't available on your device, see our IPTV player guide for alternatives.
On Apple devices, Smarters Player Lite is the developer's official app. Its App Store listing needs iOS 15.6 or later on iPhone and covers Apple TV too. It signs in the same way, though some features differ from the Android version.
Signing in
Open the app and accept the terms
On first launch you'll be asked to choose a layout (for example TV or mobile) and accept the terms of use.Choose “Login with Xtream Codes API”
This is the easiest option. If you only have an M3U link, choose “Load your playlist or file/URL” instead and paste the link. See M3U playlists explained.Enter your details
Any name (for example “Home”), then your username, password and server URL exactly as provided, including http:// and the port number if there is one.Add user and wait
The app downloads channels, the TV guide and on-demand sections. The first load can take a minute or two.
You can add more than one login. The app keeps them in a list of users, which is handy if you're helping a relative and want to switch between their details and yours.
Settings worth changing
Player selection
In Settings > Player Selection you can choose which internal player handles live TV, films and series. If a channel stutters, freezes or has no sound, switching player is often the quickest fix. Some versions also let you add an external player, such as VLC, under Settings > External Players.
Stream format
Some versions let you choose between MPEG-TS and HLS stream formats. If channels buffer or fail to start, try the other option.
EPG time shift
If the TV guide is an hour out, check your device's time zone first, then use the EPG time-shift setting. Clocks changing in March and October are the usual trigger.
Parental control
Set a PIN and lock any categories you don't want children to browse.
Refreshing content
If channels or listings look out of date, use the refresh option on the home screen (or sign out and back in) to reload everything.
Catch-up and multi-screen
Where your service offers catch-up, Smarters shows it in its own section and in the guide, so you can play programmes that have already aired. Some versions also include a multi-screen view for watching several channels at once. Each channel playing at the same time counts as one screen on your plan, so watching two at once needs at least a 2-screen plan.
Smarters on a Fire TV Stick
Fire TV devices are among the most common places to use Smarters. Our Fire TV Stick guide covers installing apps on Fire TV, including the newest models that only install apps from the Amazon Appstore.
Problems?
Login errors, crashes and the message “Unfortunately IPTV Smarters Pro has stopped” all have straightforward fixes in our IPTV Smarters troubleshooting guide. If you're comparing apps, see how it stacks up against TiviMate.
